Church Gatherings Online

March 20, 2020

Good Afternoon Calvary Family,

I want to let you know that the elders and I have made the decision to move our Sunday morning worship gatherings online.

We will not gather here on our campus for the next couple of Sundays at least.

Notice that we are going to have a time change with our online service. It will be at 10 AM.
If you have not downloaded and become acquainted with our digital resource connections, here are the links.

Download our APP from the Apple Store or Play Store. (There will be a option on our APP to get you to our live stream)

There are many reasons that we are all wrestling with these kinds of decisions. One of the big reasons is we don’t have the volunteer staff available to run our kids ministry right now. And we don’t want to put anyone at risk so there’s no expectation to be on campus at all. We have said that all along. Another reason is just simple anxiety. Yet another reason is just to socially separate to keep the COVID-19 virus away. Even though there’s not a case of it here in Ruidoso at all, we want to be careful regardless.

We also want to be sensitive to the apprehension of the world. Of our own community. And of those within our church body. We are not living by fear. We are living by faith. Yet wisdom would say right now that we need to take a pause from managing mass gatherings here on our campus.

Here’s something for you to think about. If we are only the church when we are gathered, what does that say about us? We are not only the church gathered but we are also the church scattered. The church is not a building; it’s people. It’s very important that we “be” the church right now.

We will offer an online Bible study mid week also. I am recommending that Connect Groups not meet right now. We will not have Men’s or Women’s Bible studies during the week.

Here are a few things you can do during these days to remain healthy spiritually:

Keep your devotional life active. Your own personal worship through the word of God and through music is important. Don’t give up the altar of your soul for anything else but Jesus.

On Sunday morning gather with your family around a screen and actually watch our service. For those of you with kids, can you imagine what your kids will think when they see you still making worship a priority even though you’re not coming to the campus? Do breakfast together and then open Bibles together.

Remember you can give online in our app or on our website. It’s safe and secure. During these days of trial we will by faith still meet needs around the world.

Take constant pauses when you sense anxiety about the way the world is going right now. It’s OK to get up and just take a brief walk and look out a window and breathe. Pray a prayer asking God to give you peace. Use this time of “social separation” to increase your sleep and rest.

If you have any needs at all, please reach out to me. I will do anything I can to serve you. Our entire staff is here to serve you.

We love all of you,

Pastor Alan
