Your Identity

I saw this on Facebook today as a post and asked Chelsey Jo Koch is I could publish it on our "collected" page. She graciously agreed to read this.

I have been thinking and praying for all the hurting women out there for the past 24 hours. I’ve been wanting to make a post and share some encouragement and light with you, because I was a hurting, bitter, angry and oh so sad woman for 7 long excruciating years and I know what you are feeling. I know first hand. I wish I had had someone grab me up and look me in the eyes and tell me that my identity as a woman wasn’t in being called a mother. That my value wasn’t in being called a mother.

That being a woman didn’t necessarily mean I had to be a mother. I know to us women that crave being a mother since the day we could play with dolls, it’s just a part of who we are and we expect that one day we will become a momma but then life happens, unexpected twists and turns. Doctors start to label us. The world starts to look dark in that, maybe, as a woman I’m going to have to come to terms that maybe that isn’t my calling, that being a mother isn’t going to be my norm, but, wait, I am a woman “I was made for this”. NO. NO. NO. You were made for a purpose, a GOD given purpose. Your identity isn’t in being called a “mom” your identity is found in Christ and Christ alone.

He says in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts (plans) I have for you declares the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you hope and a future. Ecclesiastes 3:1 To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. Psalms 139:14 says I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well. Not one time in the book of life, in the good news, in the Bible does it say your value and worth are found in being a mom. Nope, it doesn’t. Your value and worth is found in YOUR creator! He has a mighty plan for your life and it may include being a mother but even then there is more to your life and if it doesn’t IT’s OK! He sees you worthy of all things. He sees you so valuable enough to to take up a cross and die for you and your sins. What may look normal in this world, God may have it worked out in a different way, if your desire is becoming a mother keep praying for that, don’t give up hope! He is faithful ALWAYS.

Don’t let your hurt become bitterness. Don’t let your hurt turn you away from God. Don’t let your hurt allow you to turn to worldly things to take the pain away. Stay focused on God. Stay in prayer. And, don’t ever ever stop reading your bible. Trust me. I’m speaking from experience and I wish someone would’ve told me this when I was going through some of the darkest times of my life. As always, I’m here for you. I love you, and if you need prayer, I would love to pray with you
